Types of Pruning in Guava I अमरूद - प्रूनींग के प्रकार

Pruning is dwarfing process whereby we remove or cut unwanted branches of plants to delay flowering in young plants ( up to 2 years ) and regulate crop season in above two year plants .

Three Types of pruning :-
1. Training Pruning
2. Production Pruning
3. Sanitisation pruning

1. Training pruning : aims to give proper structure to young plants to improve its fruit bearing capacity in  the coming years .
a. First Cutting done 45-60 days after planting @ 2 feet height . This is known as Main Branch or Primary Branch.
b. Second Cutting done 90 days after planting to cut barnches appeared from main branch. These branches are again cut @ 1.5 -2 feet length from main branch . These branches are known as Secondery Branches .
c. Third Cutting is done after 100 days of second cutting and branches are known as tertiatery branches.

2. Production Pruning : works on principal that Guava fruit always grows on new grorth. Objective is to get crop in the desired season and desired month.
# Flower buds start showing after 28 days of pruning.
#Flower from flower buds is again 28 days process
#Flower to guava harvest is 4/5 month process depends on climate , variety etc

This can be done in four ways :--
a. Pinching : tip of branch is cut as soon as flower bud appears .
b. Pruning after finishing of harvest
c. Wait for browning of the branch at fourth knot.
d. When browning of branch reaches sixth node.

3. Saniitisation Pruning : cut all dry , diseased , broken and undesired branches from the plamts and can be done any time of the year, preferably after harvest.
